Foraging and Processing Natural Materials into Inks and Paints.
Half-day hands-on workshop.

Moving offline into the wild landscape of North Sligo, this half-day workshop will blend hands-on foraging with a colour-making workshop. The session is designed to give you the tools and experience you need to explore the abundance of colour surrounding you. The morning will be spent in the hedgerows and shores collecting natural materials. The group will then be shown how to process the seaweed, rocks, botanics and earth pigment using the 3 main processes of boiling, extracting and grinding. And finally how to bind and preserve your colours.

• Easy to find tools and materials required for bio colour making.

• Best practices for foraging and working with the seasons.

• Step by step guide to 3 colour making processes - grinding, extracting and boiling.

• How to use binders and preservatives.

• How to track your recipes and experiments.

Each participant will be sent a list of tools and material that are suggested for the workshop. They will be also be given a recipe worksheet to support their bio colour experiments. No previous experience is required.

COVID
If, due to Covid, the workshop cannot go ahead I will reschedule for later in the year (no later than October). If this does not suit, you will have the choice of a refund.
