Earth Slips In
This piece was created during quarantine. All the materials were foraged from within my 5k radius. Process-wise my work has been steadily moving out of my comfort zone. I have been experimenting with pigment; exploring consistencies, strokes and the direct and intuitive mark-making that emerges when organic materials mix. I have poured liquid onto canvas, paper and canvas stretching the surfaces around pooling pigment.
The act of searching for the colours forces me to approach the environment with a bold investigation, and is as much part of the process as the resulting palette.
Copper, Charcoal, Walnut, Oak Gall, Iron, Blackberry.
35 x 27 cm
All bio-colours produced are organic and living. Every effort will be made to preserve the lightfastness of the colours, however, there is no guarantee the colours will not change over time. You are advised to keep the paintings away from direct sunlight, away from temperature fluctuation, and to enjoy observing them if they do change.
