BKK222
This project was conceived and created by artists Robert Doherty and Kari Cahill. The collection contains a selection of photographs and paintings produced in April 2022 during a month long collaboration in Thailand. We explored the use of cyanotype as a link between our practices; painting and photography. We focused our exploration of light and form through the exposure of photosensitive materials and the application of intuitive brushstrokes.
The architectural photographs were captured in Bangkok on 35mm Kodak film stock with an eye to exploring the lines and shapes of the cityscape. The paintings were created using hand-processed charcoal and a mix of Ferric Ammonium Citrate and Potassium Ferricyanide (liquid cyanotype).
The collection is a limited edition of 20 — a photographic zine paired with original paintings and cyanotype photographs.
